The government has broadened implementation of the three-hour licensing service for four infrastructure sectors, allowing investors to enjoy the service without having to meet past requirement terms such as the minimum investment of Rp 100 billion (US$7.5 million) and the 1,000 worker minimum rule.
The measure was marked by a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) head Franky Sibarani, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said, Public Works and People’s Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, and Transportation Minister Ignasius Jonan.
“BKPM has now opened the service up to four major infrastructure sectors, namely transportation, public works, energy, and communication. Through this facility, we expect an acceleration of infrastructure services,” Franky said at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday.
The special service, he continued, integrates and completes eight licensing and non-licensing administrations. “Those who invest in these sectors can go directly to BKPM and take advantages of this service,” Franky said.
Meanwhile, Sudirman welcomed the service as an instrument to speed up infrastructure construction in the energy sector. “The idea is to centralize the licensing service in BKPM,” he told reporters.
As of Feb. 18, there were 20 companies making use of the service, with a total investment of Rp 54 trillion and 15,939 employees, according to BKPM data. (ags)
