As a developing country, there are still many Indonesians who are interested to find a job as an employee in the reputable companies. Not only to earn a high wage, Indonesian people are interested to be employees of a company to get Welfare Guarantees.

Welfare Guarantees are provided for employees in a form of health insurance for employees as required by Article 99 of Law No. 13 of 2003 concerning Manpower (“Manpower Law”).

Therefore, it is important to understand what kind of Insurances required to be given by the Company to its employees:

  1. Health Insurance
  2. The company is obligated to provide Health Insurance to its employees to guarantee the rights of employees when they are sick and also to help lighten the costs borne by the employees. Health insurance is required by the government to all employers (companies) in Indonesia in the form of BPJS Kesehatan (Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Sosial Kesehatan).

  3. Workplace Accident Insurance
  4. Workplace accidents are unexpected and may occur to the employees in the course of work. The Indonesian Government requires all employees to be registered for BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, so that any risk that may occur in the event of an accident may be accommodated/compensated if the employees are registered in BPJS Ketenagakerjaan program.

  5. Retirement Insurance
  6. This insurance is one of the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan programs. Not only to protect yourself in retirement age but also to earn funds to ensure the life after the employees retired.

  7. Life Insurance
  8. Life is priceless things that no matter how much the amount of insurance received by the heir, life could not be replaced. Nevertheless, signing up for life insurance will lighten the burden of the family of the deceased, if the backbone of the family passed away. Usually, the company provides the life insurance to its employees based on the working period and annual income. However, this insurance will end if the employee is no longer working for the company.

Therefore, as employees, we should pay attention to provide protection for ourselves and our family. The company also should not ignore to register its employees for the insurance program.
